ABOUT US

WHAT WE DO

Best Bilingual Solutions, Inc. specializes in publishing monolingual and bilingual books, originally written in any language by past and present authors, from anywhere in the world and from any time period.
We first publish each book in its native language and then translate it into 19 major languages. As each translation is done, we present it to our customers of all ages in all possible pairs of languages so that they may benefit from its intellectual content and use it as a language-learning tool.
All of our books come with a companion audio CD/DVD to listen and follow along with the text. The books are pedagogically sound and beautifully illustrated, if applicable. Our translators, proofreaders, and audioreaders are native speakers of the languages involved.
We are also strongly committed to our website's Student and Author Clubs through the gradual accumulation of valuable language-learning content.

WHO WE ARE

We are a publishing house with a strong educational focus on language learning. Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, we are a global enterprise driven by Citizens of the World of all ages and backgrounds, who have in common a love for learning, language, and culture. We are all about having fun while hopefully enriching our lives and other people's lives through the creation, translation, publishing, and selling of beautiful books.

THE BEST BILINGUAL TEAM

Julian G. Franco - Founder and CEO - Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Julian wears many colorful hats and likes to fancy himself as a jack of a few trades. Intellectually, he is a natural philosopher, a humanist, and a writer. Personally, he strives for kindness and tries to love everybody, even his fellow humans. He loves languages and cultures, and of the several books that he has unfinished in his brain and hard drives, over his many decades on this beautiful planet, one is actually called The Languages and Cultures of the World. But the one that he is writing right now is a SciTech book called Outdated Concepts, to be released in the future, since time-travel to the past is practically impossible.
He started Best Bilingual Solutions, Inc. right in his garage half a year ago. Well, he really means the garage of his brain, where his sharp and not-so-sharp tools come together, sometimes in whimsical and goofy ways. He cares deeply about education and, among other things, did some research and taught physics to undergraduates for 16 years. He is profoundly concerned about existential risks and the livelihood and survivability of all life on Earth.
At the end of the day he is just a romantic vagabond and a healthy bohemian, in search of the approval of his parents, the contemplation of life and the pursuit of happiness. But of course, happiness is a journey, not a destination, so he’ll keep up at it.
How convenient and self-servingly of Julian to have facelessly written here in the third person. For interaction in the second person, please feel free to write to him anytime at julian@bestbilingualsolutions.com. For something written in the first person, you may read his welcoming Letter from the Founder.

Below you will find the biographies and contact information of all the wonderfully enthusiastic and talented people that make Best Bilingual's beautiful books a reality.

Jie (Juliet) Zhu - Head Mandarin Chinese Translator - Nanjing, CHINA

Jie (Juliet) Zhu is currently a student at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), pursuing a BSc in International Relations. She grew up in the beautiful city of Nanjing in China, and spent five years in Singapore before going to the United Kingdom.
As Jie moves closer and closer to the centre of Western civilization and the English world, she develops a keen interest in translation. She loves to discover universality in world literature. She believes that translation breaks down language barriers, facilitates interaction between cultures and promotes peace for the human race.
Apart from working enthusiastically for Best Bilingual Solutions, Inc., she is also a diligent volunteer translator in the TED Open Translation Program and the Climate Group. Jie sees translation as a disciplined form of rewriting.
Deep down in her heart, she wishes to write something of her own. She has been freelancing for newspapers and is now a columnist for the BBC UK-China Website. She hopes that through these experiences, she could one day write a book comparable to those she had translated, touching hearts and souls around the world.

Lidia Cámara de la Fuente, Ph.D. - Head Spanish Translator - Barcelona, SPAIN

Lidia Cámara de la Fuente is a researcher and lecturer at the University of Cologne. One of her interests is the impact of multilingualism and multiliteracy for everyone involved in the process of language acquisition and learning, and translation.
Her interest in multilingualism is motivated by various personal experiences. Having been born and growing up through adolescence in Barcelona (Spain), where there is a situation of active bilingualism between Catalan and Spanish has significantly influenced her. Likewise, having three children and being married to a German has predisposed her to further develop strategies to support bilingual and multilingual learning. Lidia graduated in German and Spanish Philology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. She finished a master in Language Pathologies with expertise in multilingualism management at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She obtained a doctorate in Applied Linguistics at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona with a specialization in computational linguistics. She has published numerous papers related to her specialty.
She has translated and narrated the Aesop's Fables motivated by her children and her vocation to multilingualism. This, her first literary translation is for her a gift for her daughter, her two sons and, by extension, for all who wish to broaden their cultural and linguistic background.

Natalia P. Fomina - Head Russian Translator - Saratov, RUSSIA

I was born in Uralsk, Kazakhstan, in 1951. My father was mechanical engineer for agriculture, my mother was a teacher of Russian at the Pedagogical Institute. My favourite subjects at school were Chemistry and English. After I graduated from school, I went to Saratov State University to study Chemistry following my mother's advice.
I graduated in 1975 and was sent to Polymer Materials Research and Development Institute to work as a Chemical Engineer. The institute was located in industrial suburb of Saratov in the Chemical Plant area. After I had worked there for 2 years, I decided to change my career and start working as a technical translator.
At that time, I was disappointed by the level of pollution caused by plant activities and thought that Chemistry was responsible for all this pollution. Later I realized that it was not Chemistry, but people. So, I moved to a different department of the Research and Development Institute to work as a technical translator. And I went to the same university, but to a Philological faculty, to study English and literature in the evenings. I enjoyed my studies and after 6 years graduated as a teacher of English and Literature.
My mother invited me to come back to Uralsk and live with them. I loved my parents very much and decided to leave Saratov and move back to Kazakhstan. Uralsk is smaller than Saratov, and there were fewer opportunities to work as a translator. I found a teaching job and taught for 13 years.
At that time my English was in an idle mode: I taught Chemistry to teenagers since there were no vacancies for English teachers.
After 10 years, I was offered to teach both Chemistry and English. In 1996, after successful selection interview I was invited to work for Kazakh-American JV ‘Tengizchevroil’ in Atyrau region. My life changed for the better. I got an opportunity to polish not only my written but also my verbal English, and my knowledge of Chemistry turned out to be very useful.
In October 2005 I started MA Translation Distance Learning Program in the University of Birmingham, UK.
My work for Tengizchevroil was the second best time of my life after my childhood. And my third best period of life is current. It started in August 2008, when I decided to work as a freelance translator.
In December 2009, I graduated from the University of Birmingham and was awarded with a ‘Master of Arts (Translation Studies)’ degree. I am happy to be part of the Internet worldwide community and work as a freelance translator.
Marital status: unmarried. Hobbies: books (classical literature, both Russian and foreign), computer, internet, cooking.
Public activities: member of Amnesty International, both Russian branch and international.
Pets: I have two cats, Maya (1.5 years) and Vega (1 year).

Natalia will be happy to hear from you. If you have any language questions related to the Student/Author Russian Clubs, or from any of her translated books, or you just want to say hi, please feel free to contact her at natalia@bestbilingualsolutions.com.
